YCI’s story starts with retired semi-trailers.
Founder Dave McLaughlin spent more than two decades in the transportation and trailer-recycling industry. As trailers reached the end of their commercial service life, they were dismantled and their steel and other materials recycled.
But the floors were different.
Commercial trailer floors are built from dense hardwood selected to survive years of forklifts, heavy freight and constant use. Even after the trailer itself had reached the end of the road, much of that hardwood still had years — and miles — left in it.
Dave saw material worth saving.
What began as recovering those floors instead of discarding them became YCI Reclaimed Hardwoods: a dedicated source for commercial trailer flooring and bulk reclaimed hardwood.
