Each plank receives a quick 80-grit sanding while retaining its reclaimed surface character.
Recovered semi-trailer flooring.
Price depends on quantity. Sold by the linear foot, with a 100 linear foot minimum for pickup and 500 for shipped orders. Quantity is quoted against the material available at the time of order.
The Physical Plank.
Cargo Planks are laminated hardwood floor sections recovered from retired trailers. These boards are joined together with a shiplap edge.
Same plank. Two very different faces.
Years inside a working trailer leave each face with a distinctly different character.
Work Side.
The face that lived inside the trailer. Years of freight, loading and use create wear, markings, fastener evidence and material character unique to each plank.
Roadside.
The underside tends to be smoother and may retain rust staining where the flooring contacted the trailer structure.
Before you start.
Milling
Reclaimed material may contain embedded metal. Material should be inspected before planing, sawing or machining to reduce the risk of damaging tooling.
Moisture & Exterior Use
Cargo Planks should be properly sealed for wet or exterior applications. Prolonged standing water can eventually contribute to delamination.
The story can follow the material.
In some cases, original trailer hardware or identifying information may survive with the recovered material. Original T40 bolts can be included with an order, giving designers the option to reinstall them in the existing bolt holes and preserve another detail from the planks’ working life. Buyers for whom provenance matters can ask YCI about it.
